Rakaposhi Basecamp Trek

Rakaposhi base camp is the ever best short trek in Hunza valley starting from the village of Minapin in Nagar Valley that sits along the Minapin riverbank above the confluence of Hunza and Minapin rivers. It presents a stunning outlook of Rakaposhi and Diran with an adjoining glorious glacier from Rakaposhi base camp. The campsite a fantastic site used to be a polo ground, with clean running water is also the summer pasture of the villagers. This trek also leads to the Diran base camp along with the backdrop of Rakaposhi.

Rakaposhi base camp trek is one of the easiest trek leading to 7000m Karakoram peaks with fascinating views of Rakaposhi and Diran. This excellent short and easy trek from Minapin to Rakaposhi Base Camp, also know as Taghaphari is an ideal introduction for trekking in Hunza Valley.

As breathtaking as the view towards Rakaposhi and Diran is the view in the opposite direction of the Batura Mustagh. Most visitors to the base camp do not fully realize that from the ridge, right before descending into base camp, one can see eight 7000 meter peaks: Ultar I and Ultar II, Shisper, Sangemarmar Sar, Batura, Hachinder Chish, and Passu Sar. Very few places in the world offer this opportunity – so if you do this trek, be sure to have a super wide-angle lens and if the view towards the north is cloudy, it may be worth spending a day or two around basecamp until it clears up.
